".....French warships were nearby. According to the Bibliothèque nationale de France’s historical account, an approaching squadron carried some 500 cannon when President Jean-Pierre Boyer accepted the conditions...."

A reading of the colonial conquests across Africa produces this archetypical story over and over. "Deals", "agreements" and "sales" signed by African rulers either effectively at gunpoint, by the "Delcy Rodriguez" replacements after the guns have destroyed the rulers. Same story, everywhere, everytime. It's also the same type of "deal" situation that the yanks tried to impose on Iran right now in the present day.

This why the westerners love their contracts and treaties - these documents are the lies designed to manufacture a revised history, wiping away the actual history of armed violence and theft.

But unfortunately one looks across Africa and what one sees is a generation of people who mostly dont understand this, and don't try to acheive their own sovereginity. They talk about China without understand that China not only fought to get its freedom, but it had to suffer poverty for decades to maintain that freedom, and even now it is very careful to build it's own future, owning its own infrastructure, its own digital media - and giving the Eurocolonials only a very small and guarded window. Because the Chinese know their history and its lessons. No matter how much the attraction of just taking the seemingly easy road of accepting western trojan horses. That is why they have autonomy - freedom - now.
